Colposcopy

Colposcopy is one of the leading methods of examination of patients with cervical pathology, the main essence of which is to examine and assess the condition of the cervical and vaginal tissues using a microscope.

The procedure allows you to distinguish benign changes in the tissues of the cervix from malignant.

The microscope does not come into contact with the patient’s body in any way. Examination is usually carried out not only in white light, but also under light filters of other colors (green, blue, etc.), which allows a better assessment of the state of superficial vessels.

After a simple examination under a microscope, the cervix is treated with a special solution, under the influence of which pathological areas change their color.

In the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology colposcopy is used not only as a visual method of diagnosing cervical pathology.

The use of colposcopy allows for targeted swabbing and biopsy (material for laboratory analysis), which significantly increases the informative value.

Colposcopy in our Department can be performed not only during outpatient appointments, but also in the operating room during surgeries.

In addition, due to the use of video technology, we can display the image obtained during colposcopy on the screen of monitors, which provides convenience for both the doctor and the patient, who can observe the colposcopic picture of the cervix and simultaneously listen to the doctor’s explanations.
